E-zine
DIS is an electronic magazine made for disabled young adults aged 16-25+. A wide variety of topics are covered from all facets of life and geared toward the young people themselves, not their doctors, therapists or God forbid their parents! The e-zine is divided into sections like a traditional magazine would be and contains several articles in each. Sections include:
- The 411: covers current events within the disabled community, government legislation and advocacy
- Now: covers lifestyle topics such as family and friends, school, higher education, employment and living life as a disabled person
- Global: covers topics about the greater disabled community, bringing people and issues together from around the world and how we can all make a difference; it also includes a travel section
- Health: covers the latest information, treatments and research on a variety of disabilities, exercise regimes, adaptive sports and recreation ideas all focusing on mind, body, spirit
- Kiss: covers relationships, romance and sexuality issues as they relate to disability
- Tech: covers topics on the latest assistive technology, products that make life easier and more enjoyable
- Ask: taking questions from our readers and advice column
Why an e-zine? Why not a traditional printed magazine? A digital platform is more accessible than a printed one; it is also more sustainable and economical.
