Heshima Kenya is a non-profit organization based in Nairobi, Kenya. They serve orphaned and unaccompanied refugee children by arranging foster care services, running a Safe House and teaching adolescent girls vocational skills.
As of March 2008, I started designing most of the print design work for the organization. One of my first assignments was this postcard. I presented several versions of the design but this was the one that was chosen. The card's purpose was to be handed out at fundraisers to explain who they serve, what they do and how they do it.
I also designed Heshima Kenya's website and took inspiration for the postcard from the site. A highly contrasted black and white photograph is accented by an orange bar along the bottom.
